Kevin – Owner

Originally a gymnast, Kevin gained 35lbs of muscle during his freshman year simply by changing his diet and maintaining a consistent fitness routine. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in Corporate/Community Wellness Management, Kevin also gained national fitness qualifications for group exercise, personal training, and other fitness specialties.

He started personal training and teaching fitness classes at local health clubs including the YMCA, Jack Silbermans, and Fit Zone, then became the personal training director at World Gym in Hixson. In 2006, Kevin opened his own studio, Live Active, for personal training in Chattanooga on Access Road. A year later, he began his first boot camp sessions on the DuPont Plant field.


Kristen – Owner

Overweight since childhood, Kristen managed to lose nearly 40lbs in 2007, the year she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. Kristen met Kevin while studying at Southern Adventist University, and they married in 2004.

Health and fitness became Kristen’s passion, gaining qualifications in personal training, sports nutrition, functional movement and healthy cooking. Kristen worked for a year as a physical therapist before joining Kevin to build Scenic City Boot Camp and Transformation Center in Chattanooga.

Clarissa – Trainer

A former college athlete, Clarissa became a licensed Massage Therapist in 2005, and then trained in group exercise and personal training to widen her portfolio and offer her clients more health and fitness options, including personal training in Chattanooga. With ten years of experience in the health and fitness industry, Clarissa takes her own fitness seriously, and competes in races of all kinds. Originally from Alabama, Clarissa moved to Chattanooga with her husband, Jacob, in June 2012, shortly after they were married so that he could start his medical residency as an orthopedic surgeon at Erlanger Medical Center. Jon – Trainer

Jon Scribner, originally from Fort Wayne Indiana, is the newest addition to the Scenic City Boot camp family. He graduated spring 2015 from Manchester University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and Fitness with a concentration in fitness and recreation. Jon has a very athletic background as a 4 year starter as a defensive end and earned 2nd Team All-Conference. He was voted team captain and most outstanding defensive lineman for the 2014 season. Jon interned with the Manchester football program being a spring ball assistant coach as well as a strength and conditioning coach assistant for the Manchester football program. Jon also was the strength coach for the women’s softball program. Jon is a very fun, energetic and determined person to get the most out of his clients physically and mentally. Jon is an NSCA-CPT, one of the highest regarded national personal training certifications. He specializes in power-lifting, speed and agility work, Performance Training, and strength training.


Robin – Nutrition Coach

Robin Large, aka “Smalls”, wasn’t sure that boot camp would be a good fit for her.  She was shy, scared and more critical of herself and how out of shape she had become than she cared to admit in public. But after a few months of boot  camp, Robin started to get the results and the confidence she had been searching for for so long. Robin lost 40 lbs but the internal transformation was way more powerful than  any physical changes. After 2 years as a client of Scenic City Boot Camp, Robin joined our team as a nutrition coach. Her love of cooking, her own personal mastery with  our nutrition programs, and her passion for pursuing her education in sports nutrition along with her incredible body transformation is what makes her a perfect fit for the SCBC team. Robin now enjoys helping other clients achieve their fitness and nutrition goals at Scenic City Boot Camp.

Rachael Harris

Rachael Harris

Obese but athletic was the name of the game for the first 24 years of Rachael’s life.As a former collegiate softball player she always enjoyed playing sports, but was never equipped with solid nutritional concepts.In 2009 Rachael through self-education, determination, diet, and exercise lost 65lbs and kept it off until she traveled overseas for 3 years.Living abroad presented not only amazing memories and experiences, but also many fitness and nutritional obstacles which resulted in gaining some of her weight back.Feeling gross and ready to be healthy again, Rachael joined Scenic City Boot Camp upon her return stateside and lost 11% body fat in her first 4 months. Feeling stronger and healthier than ever, Rachael joined the SCBC team where she feels privileged to get to share her story with new clients and assure them that it is absolutely possible to change a lifetime of bad habits when given the right tools, as well as advising them on how to do exactly that.


Meghan Johnson

Meghan joined the Scenic City Boot Camp team in November 2015. She graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science, focusing on rehab. After many hours of therapy observation and working as a personal trainer, Meghan realized her passion in helping people work towards a better self- both physically and mentally. She began to work full time as a personal trainer in 2009 and became a group fitness instructor in 2010. Meghan is an ACSM certified personal trainer and has worked in the fitness industry for over seven years in both training and management positions. She continues to educate herself through new research and emerging fitness trends. Meghan and her husband, David, married in 2010 and welcomed a little girl in 2014.


Katherine Watwood

Katherine is an Exercise Physiologist certified by the American College of Sports Medicine; she received both Bachelor’s and Master’s in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology from Auburn University. Inspired to take control of her own health, Katherine started her own weight loss journey in college and worked to lose sixty pounds. Her goal is to empower others to be the healthiest version of themselves. When she is not working out, Katherine enjoys gardening and farming, watching football and riding her ponies.

Shannon Orejel

Originally from Chattanooga, TN, Shannon graduated from the University of Tennessee with a double Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Human Resource Management. She played soccer on several recreational teams in Chattanooga after graduating college; however, she found her passion in fitness coaching. Shannon has been in the fitness industry for 20 years teaching group fitness and personal training. She is nationally certified through Athletics Fitness and Associations of America (AFAA), Les Mills International, and Zumba. She has led and participated in several fitness fundraising events to help increase awareness within the community and surrounding areas…such as American Diabetes Association of America, American Cancer Society, and Muscular Dystrophy Association. She is married with two children ages two years and six months old. She enjoys learning healthy recipes and cooking in her free time.
